Our friends over at Luminosity just announced the date for this years Luminosity Beach Festival.
This year’s theme is Caribbean, and the dates announced is August 17th and 18th.

It will be held at Blijburg aan Zee in Amsterdam.

The winter is still having a firm grip of Sweden but we are slowly moving towards spring and all the fun that comes with it! How about ASOT600, Wonder Festival, WMC and of course Above & Beyond in Stockholm.

My taste of music is quite wide and I can sometimes abandon a genre for a while to pick it up at a later point. That has happened now and I’m clearing my head with other styles. But I’m after all a sucker for EDM so I’m of course prepared for this episode and looking forward to put my set together!

I have found some tunes that I think will be a great injection to my set. Starting with a bit slower bpm than before. There are tunes that can’t be left out so I hope that you like them as well.

February episode was all about Denmark. Daniel Kandi and Kris O’Neil showed that Denmarks trance music is something to count! We are moving on and will put our full focus to our dear neighbours Norway! They don’t just have awsome girls or fantastic landscape. The norwegian EDM-scene is strong and we are proud to present the uprising trance duo E&G, lovely and really talanted Carina and our interview with the house producer Made in Norway by Patric. January, 2013.. Dark, cold January! Well there is hope. #Podgressive EP038 is soon here. We have been in Finland and in Norway. This time it’s time to listen to what our neighbors in Denmark has to give us. We have a couple of really talented artists that I will get to shortly but let’s turn back the time a little bit. Actually 4 years from now!

Podgressive 4 Years Aniversary

I think it was in December. Both me and Kambiz did’nt have so many gigs at the moment and I was, as I always do with my nearest artist friends, try to come up with new cool ideas. And so it was. Some how we came up with this idea. Let’s build up our names with a podcast and let’s make it the best independent edm-show ever! Here we are, 4 years later, with aprox. 4000 listeners each and every month from around the frekkin’ globe! I don’t think none of us really believed that this could get so big. Or hmm, big compared to Armin.. NO! But, for us local Swedish dj’s It’s a huge thing. Of course there has been a lot of work and loss of energy but it has been so worth it! So, as I keep saying. There would’nt be any Podgressive without listeners. So big up to you all and keep up with the feedback and let’s continue spreading the word!

We are trying our best to make this show and bejbi a better experience for you. I wish we could clone ourselves but that aint possible. We have so many good ideas but most of them are too big to make in short notice. If you have any good ideas for the show or bejbi, don’t hesitate. January 2013

This year started with a big explosion of champagne, my last cigarette, fantastic seafood and great company! The first week was like a big hangover but then I started to grab on to some music again. I made a couple of mash-ups and got a nice gig with my mates Steve Sundheden, JP Bates and Jay van Kay. All three very talented by the decks. The gig is on the 26th January (Make sure to drop by early. My playtime is 22.00-23.30). The day after my release of this months podcast. And somewhere there it got me thinking of how many tracks I will need to get for the end of this month. I don’t want to release a podcast and play the same tunes the day after and I need to keep up with the quality. So, there has been many hours searching for the right material but I think I’m on to some real bangers now!

Podgressive EP038

As I mentioned, this is the fourth year anniversary and we have some phat ”ch00ns” for you. From Denmark, we present Daniel Kandi and Kris O Neil!! As you see, it’s a heavy line up and pretty much melodic tunes coming up. I hope that you like it! Well you know me right.. Starting up with some housyer stuff and there is some really good releases this month. Climbing towards progressive that I found on the MINIMAL section at Beatport.. What’s wrong with the categories!? Since when was progressive house minimal and progressive house SHM, Avicii, Guetta etc? Okay, what ever.. Moving on! Then I got hold to some awesome Techno beats mainly from the Drumcode label and some great demos from my friends that have come a long way since they started to collaborate. We will take a short break with our interviews this month but I think we have something really tasty for you for the February episode. So, 25th January around 12:00 CET at #Podgressive!

New releases: Christian Rusch – The Arp

The guys and girls over att Future Sound Of Sweden Records just announced their fourth and latest release.
This time it’s from the legendary Christian Rusch.
Christian Rusch started producing EDM back in year 2000, and had a huge breakthrough with the magic tune Epic, co-produced with Greg Murray.
The last years he has been tutoring Tïesto in producing music, and has been working on his own material for a while.

We first heard this tune at Luminosity Beach Festival last summer, and it sure has an summerish wibe. ”Uplifting, driving, and very much in to the point, The Arp delivers an intense journey through rough bass-frills, lush pads, ambient piano landscapes, and its namesake focal-point: the arp.” (FSOS Records)
The b-side is a remix by the up-and-coming producers Sande and Acler.

News: Above & Beyond Tour hits Stockholm

The legendary Above & Beyond comes to Stockholm with their Group Therapy Tour 2013.
The venue is Münchenbryggeriet and the tickets are 275SEK each and Jeremy Olander will be the support act.
The warm-up dj’s will be Jonas Hornblad, and Damien Eie and the second floor will have Kambiz, JP Bates, Jay van Kay and Kenuna.

Here is a snipplet from the article about Above & Beyond that Niklas wrote for the Classic For The Weekend in 2012.

The Above & Beyond-story started in 1999 when Jono Grant & Paavo Siljamäki studied electronic engineering at the University of Westminister where they discovered a mutual interest in electronic music.
After working together writing music, Paavo suggested that they should start their own record label, and Anjunabeats was started, mainly to release their own material and later became one of the most influentual trancemusic-labels in the world.

The inspiration for the name Above & Beyond came from a website for an american motvation trainer, who’s name coincidentally also was Jono Grant and used the name Above & Beyond as a slogan and it eventually stuck. The remix was eventually picked over the more established names as Rob Searle & Tilt to be the a-side and later peaked at no 1 in the UK club charts and got loads of support by the major dj’s.

Their biggest commercial success came with the remix of Madonna – What It Feels Like For A Girl. Madonna was so impressed with the track that Above & Beyonds version was used in the official video over Madonnas album-version. The video, directed by Guy Ritchie was pretty violent so MTV couldn’t play it before 9pm. The track had good chart-success all over the world except in the US where it only reached no 23 in the Billboard Hot 100.

The year of 2012 is about to end. It’s December and it seems to be a white christmas for us here in Stockholm. It all started a couple a weeks ago with really cold temperatures and as you can see on the cover picture taken towards Riddarfjärden and with our city house, it’s not a snowstorm over the water. It’s fog because of the big temperature changes between air and water. We had -10c to -15c that morning. It has been snowing quite some since then and there has been some difficulties with cars that has jammed here and there but overall, it’s beautiful now! I would like to give some credits to my friend Carl Efvergren for the great picture taken from his office that morning. He is btw the lad behind the guitar on mine and Millaways two tunes that we made, Millaway & Tatsumi Suzuki ft. Carl Efvergren – Lynchburg Lemonade and Empire Of The Sun – We Are The People. Podgressive EP037 – The Yearmixes

As the most of you know. When Podgressive started, the colaboration with Bejbi.se wasn’t started yet. I got this podcasting idea with my friend, Kambiz. We have been playing alongside for several years and we wanted to try this out. So, in January 2010 we launched our first episode. The first six months had lot’s of beginner-fails. Either our voice-overs were too loud, way too low and our self-confidence as ”radio-speakers” were not that high. After a while it all started to sound pretty well. However, the year went by and so did we with the show. Kambiz hopped off the project and I kept on with the show. But, his help on the first year has been crucial for the future of Podgressive. We have and will as in every December have a yearmix put together from each of us.

I have been working on my set with Ableton for a while and I’m truly impressed by all the great artists that puts together a yearmix every year. It takes time and a lot of knowledge to mash the tracks up and at the same time still have the right build through the entire set. In writing moment, the set is about 60min and with a little more than 30 tracks. I think the final result will land on 75 minutes and about 40 tunes. Hopefully the result will be in your taste!

The Year 2012

This year has been really intresting. A year when Podgressive got a bit more serious. Much thank’s to Patric and his ideas and help and of course our great artists and the fact that we see more and more subscribers and feedback. That is something that makes you keep on with this. We are moving towards the end of this year. Well there is still a little time left though! I’m always giveing you a pretty good update with the weather here and if you see the cover image to this entry, there hasn’t been any changes since last time or since last spring to be honest.

Let’s take a look at the mirror, reverse back the time. This month started really good with a really great birthday party.
Patric, Julle and Olof (All related to bejbi) turned 30 years and they had done their birthday planning well!
We were up at a tower called Kaknästornet. It’s located here in Stockholm and it’s about 155m high. Somehow they got the top floors booked and my party mood went straight up! Playing decks with Kambiz, Steve Sundheden, Stana and Amar S on that altitude and with a view over the city was just an amazing experience.
And we got that tower rocking, not just with our banging tunes but with the total experience of all the great people that came to celebrate our friends, the yummy, yummy cake and some ASAHI BEEER. So, guy’s.. Let’s do 30 more years more shall we!

When it comes to music, I’ve been scrumming the web as usual for some great tunes. This month with some difficulties. There has been some great releases but not as many that I’m used to I’m afraid. Or, did I miss them all?! However, I got a pretty good platform allready, and I have been sorting out my toplist of course!
Just so you know, I’m back in my studio mode again! It took some time since the last bootleg I did with Millaway and Carl Efvergren, but better now than never. Hopefully my new ”ID” will be finished and become a big ”ch00n-er” but as usual, you never know when it comes to music! It’s like 1/1000 but you never know when that day comes. That’s my five cents to all the djs and producers out there. Don’t give up! It takes bloody hard work and time to have this interest and to become a sucessfull artist. It’s not just a click on some buttons thing I’m afraid. But I will get you all updated with my tune so you know!

If you have missed all the previous episodes, I forgive you but what ever you do, don’t miss this one! This months episode will be shaking the very core of this planet!
Michael Cassette is a musician that I’ve got my eyes and ears on for a long time! He will finally play a guest set for us and I’m so proud to be a part of that! As we always these days have is a two-guest-show and the second name for this episode is Orkidea. This finnish lad has been up in the very top of nordic EDM-scene for more than a decade now and he is truly a legend in trance music.
