So why not write an article of the main band? Baxxter\" target=\"_blank\">H.P. Baxxter<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rick_J._Jordan\" title=\"Rick J. Jordan\" target=\"_blank\">Rick J. Jordan<\/a> had met long before in the synthpop-band <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Celebrate_the_Nun\" title=\"Celebrate The Nun\" target=\"_blank\">Celebrate The Nun<\/a> (with additional members <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Britt+Maxime\" title=\"Britt Maxime\" target=\"_blank\">Britt Maxime<\/a> (sister of H.P.) and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Slin+Thompson\" title=\"Slin Thompson\" target=\"_blank\">Slin Thompson<\/a> back in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Celebrate The Nun hand some hits with the singles <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Celebrate-The-Nun-Ordinary-Town\/master\/118434\" title=\"Ordinary Town\" target=\"_blank\">Ordinary Town<\/a> &#038; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Celebrate-The-Nun-Will-You-Be-There-Remix\/master\/118435\" title=\"Will You Be There\" target=\"_blank\">Will You Be There<\/a>. The latter peaked at no 5 in the US Billboards Dance\/Club play chart in June 1990. Their next hit, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Celebrate-The-Nun-Shes-A-Secretary\/master\/118430\" title=\"She's A Secretary\" target=\"_blank\">She&#8217;s A Secretary<\/a> peaked at no 12 in the same chart in december the same year. <\/p>\n<p>All in all, Celebrate The Nun released 2 albums and 5 singles before H.P and Rick left the project for Scooter.<\/p>\n<p>Scooter was started in 1993 by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Hans+Peter+Geerdes\" title=\"Hans-Peter Geerdes\" target=\"_blank\">Hans-Peter Geerdes<\/a> (a.k.a. H.P. Baxxter), <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Hendrik+Stedler\" title=\"Hendrik Stedler\" target=\"_blank\">Hendrik Stedler<\/a> (a.k.a. Rick J. Jordan and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/S%C3%B6ren+B%C3%BChler\" title=\"S\u00f6ren B\u00fchler\" target=\"_blank\">S\u00f6ren B\u00fchler<\/a> (a.k.a.. Ferris Bueller) as a short term project. <\/p>\n<p>Their first single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Vall%C3%A9e-De-Larmes\/master\/2880\" title=\"Vall\u00e9e De Larmes\" target=\"_blank\">Vall\u00e9e De Larmes<\/a> was released in 1993 and didn&#8217;t get that much notice. It was first after the release of second single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Hyper-Hyper\/master\/2931\" title=\"Hyper Hyper\" target=\"_blank\">Hyper Hyper<\/a> that the guys saw that this wouldn&#8217;t be a short-term project. <\/p>\n<p>The single did very well, both in the charts where it peaked at no 2 in the German singles chart and within top 10 in most european countries and it also did really well on the dancefloors. Worth noticing is that <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/H._P._Baxxter\" title=\"H.P.\" target=\"_blank\">H.P.<\/a> mentions most major DJ&#8217;s who were popular at the time in the track.<\/p>\n<p>The followup, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Move-Your-Ass\/master\/2980\" title=\"Move Your Ass!\" target=\"_blank\">Move Your Ass!<\/a> did even better and sold Gold in Germany with over 250.000 singles sold and had the same success in the charts. Worth noticing is that this was the first ever Scooter-track I heard. A friend of mine later bought the Hyper Hyper-single. The track also features the famous line &#8221;It&#8217;s nice to be important &#8211; but it&#8217;s more important to be nice&#8221; which is somewhat of my motto.<\/p>\n<p>The 1995 single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Friends\/master\/3109\" title=\"Friends\" target=\"_blank\">Friends<\/a> followed the same recipies as the earlier singles with H.P. Baxxter on vocals, except that they used a pitched up sample for the main song-part.<br \/>\nThe track was in the top 20-charts all over europe. The followup, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Endless-Summer\/master\/3080\" title=\"Endless Summer \" target=\"_blank\">Endless Summer <\/a>followed the same recipy and did as well in the charts.<\/p>\n<p>The first Scooter-album, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/...and_the_Beat_Goes_On!\" title=\"\u2026And The Beat Goes On!\" target=\"_blank\">\u2026And The Beat Goes On<\/a> which featured 11 tracks including the ones mentioned above and some tracks which were featured on the b-sides to the singles.<\/p>\n<p>With their second album, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Our_Happy_Hardcore\" title=\"Our Happy Hardcore\" target=\"_blank\">Our Happy Hardcore<\/a> their influences can easily be spotted.<br \/>\nFor instance, first single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Let-Me-Be-Your-Valentine\/master\/3285\" title=\"Let Me Be Your Valentine\" target=\"_blank\">Let Me Be Your Valentine<\/a> samples \u201dMu Mu\u201d from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_klf\" title=\"The KLF\" target=\"_blank\">The KLF<\/a>. You can hear loads of KLF-influences when you listen thru material from 1996 and onwards.<\/p>\n<p>The next track, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Rebel-Yell\/master\/3384\" title=\"Rebel Yell\" target=\"_blank\">Rebel Yell<\/a> is a remake of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Billy_Idol\" title=\"Billy Idol\" target=\"_blank\">Billy Idol<\/a>&#8217;s track with the same name.<br \/>\nYou can find more Billy Idol-influences when listening thru their albums.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Im-Raving\/master\/3238\" title=\"I'm Raving\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;m Raving<\/a> is also a remake of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Marc+Cohn\" title=\"Marc Cohn\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Cohn<\/a>&#8217;s track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Marc-Cohn-Walking-In-Memphis\/master\/222345\" title=\"Walking In Memphis\" target=\"_blank\">Walking In Memphis<\/a> (which many artists since have covered). The track did really well and peaked at no 4 in the German chart and even sold Gold. You can also hear a tempo-change from 160-190 bpm in earlier tracks to 138 bpm in this one. The track was featured on their third album, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Wicked!\" title=\"Wicked\" target=\"_blank\">Wicked<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Break-It-Up\/master\/3198\" title=\"Break It Up\" target=\"_blank\">Break It Up<\/a> is actually a ballad which was a big change from the bmp-pumped harddance-tracks they&#8217;ve done before and later became the first of many ballads.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-The-Age-Of-Love\/master\/3600\" title=\"The Age Of Love\" target=\"_blank\">The Age Of Love<\/a>, the title track of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Age_of_Love_(album)\" title=\"album with the same name\" target=\"_blank\">album with the same name<\/a> is really influenced by the movie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0103064\/\" title=\"Terminator 2\" target=\"_blank\">Terminator 2<\/a> and can easily be spotted in this track.<\/p>\n<p>The next single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Fire\/master\/3534\" title=\"Fire\" target=\"_blank\">Fire<\/a> was featured on the soundtrack to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/title\/tt0119707\/\" title=\"Mortal Kombat - Annihilation\" target=\"_blank\">Mortal Kombat \u2013 Annhiliation<\/a> and the single sold gold in Germany. It was also the last track that featured <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Ferris+Bueller+%282%29\" title=\"Ferris Bueller\" target=\"_blank\">Ferris Bueller <\/a>who left the band to pursue his solo career. Ferris Bueller was replaced by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Axel+Broszeit\" title=\"Axel Coon\" target=\"_blank\">Axel Coon<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The fifth album, the 1998 release <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/No_Time_to_Chillhttp:\/\/\" title=\"No Time To Chill\" target=\"_blank\">No Time To Chill<\/a> featured Scooter&#8217;s biggest hit, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-How-Much-Is-The-Fish\/master\/3634\" title=\"How Much Is The Fish\" target=\"_blank\">How Much Is The Fish<\/a>. The flute-melody was sampled from the track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Bots-Zeven-Dagen-Lang\/release\/2286444\" title=\"Zeven Dagen Lang\" target=\"_blank\">Zeven Dagen Lang<\/a> by the\u00a0Dutch\u00a0band\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Bots\" title=\"Bots\" target=\"_blank\">Bots<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The seconds single off the album, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Call-Me-Ma%C3%B1ana\/master\/3907\" title=\"Call Me Manana\" target=\"_blank\">Call Me Manana<\/a> samples the old <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/L.A.+Style\" title=\"L.A. Style\" target=\"_blank\">L.A. Style<\/a>-track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/LA-Style-James-Dad-Is-Brown\/master\/41832\" title=\"James Brown Is Dead\" target=\"_blank\">James Brown Is Dead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The sixth album, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Back_to_the_Heavyweight_Jam\" title=\"Back To The Heavyweight Jam\" target=\"_blank\">Back To The Heavyweight Jam<\/a> (the title is influented by The KLF&#8217;s track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/KLF-Last-Train-To-Trancentral-Live-From-The-Lost-Continent\/master\/40594\" title=\"Last Train To Trancentral\" target=\"_blank\">Last Train To Transcentral<\/a>) was released in 1999 and the first single off the album, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Faster-Harder-Scooter\/master\/3957\" title=\"Faster Harder Scooter\" target=\"_blank\">Faster Harder Scooter<\/a> did really well chart-wise and peaked at no 3 in Sweden and no 2 in Finland.<\/p>\n<p>The second single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Fuck-The-Millennium\/master\/3999\" title=\"Fuck The Millennium\" target=\"_blank\">Fuck The Millennium<\/a> (another KLF-reference as The KLF released a single as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/2K\" title=\"2K\" target=\"_blank\">2K<\/a> called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/2K-k-The-Millennium\/master\/13631\" title=\"Fuck The Millennium\" target=\"_blank\">Fuck The Millennium<\/a>) and did almost as well, peaked at no 4 in Sweden and no 3 in Finland. The single sold Gold in Sweden with over 20.000 units.<\/p>\n<p>Their 7th album, the 2000 release <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sheffield_(album)\" title=\"Sheffield\" target=\"_blank\">Sheffield<\/a> contained the hit single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Im-Your-Pusher\/master\/4041\" title=\"I'm Your Pusher\" target=\"_blank\">I&#8217;m Your Pusher<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>In the track, H.P. calls himself Dave From Sheffield. Why Dave and Sheffield, nobody knows. Rumor has it that he was once interviewed by a guy who greeted H.P. As \u201dHi, i&#8217;m Dave. Dave From Sheffield\u201d but who knows why and what influented them. <\/p>\n<p>Worth noticing is that this album was the first of many released on the label <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/label\/Sheffield+Tunes\" title=\"Sheffield Tunes\" target=\"_blank\">Sheffield Tunes<\/a> which is a sublabel to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/label\/Kontor+Records+GmbH\" title=\"Kontor Records\" target=\"_blank\">Kontor Records<\/a> and founded by Scooter. <\/p>\n<p>Their second single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Shes-The-Sun\/release\/282197\" title=\"She's The Sun\" target=\"_blank\">She&#8217;s The Sun<\/a> is a slow track. The drumloop is sampled from an old <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Led_Zeppelin\" title=\"Led Zeppelin\" target=\"_blank\">Led Zeppelin<\/a>-track called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Led-Zeppelin-Live-On-The-Levee-Chicago-1975\/release\/3625473\" title=\"When The Levee Breaks\" target=\"_blank\">When The Levee Breaks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Scooter actually got an award for Most Successful Dance Act at the 2000 <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Comet_Award#Annual_Comet_Awards\" title=\"Viva Comet Awards\" target=\"_blank\">Viva Comet Awards<\/a> which IMHO is a big leap for bands like this. It&#8217;s not often that you see a group like this get an award as their music isn&#8217;t exactly radiomusic.<\/p>\n<p>The single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Posse-I-Need-You-On-The-Floor\/release\/343203\" title=\"Posse (I Need You On The Floor)\" target=\"_blank\">Posse (I Need You On The Floor)<\/a> was the first track off the 2001 album <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/We_Bring_the_Noise!\" title=\"We Bring The Noise\" target=\"_blank\">We Bring The Noise<\/a>. You can clearly hear the KLF-influences with the main sample taken from the KLF&#8217;s hit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/KLF-What-Time-Is-Love-Pure-Trance-1-The-89-Primal-Remix\/master\/184737\" title=\"What Time Is Love\" target=\"_blank\">What Time Is Love<\/a>. Also, parts of the vocals are taken from the track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Human+Resource\" title=\"Human Resource\" target=\"_blank\">Human Resource<\/a> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Human-Resource-Dominator\/master\/71903\" title=\"Dominator\" target=\"_blank\">Dominator<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The next single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Aiii-Shot-The-DJ\/release\/161589\" title=\"Aiii Shot The DJ\" target=\"_blank\">Aiii Shot The DJ<\/a> was a pretty good track but it was with the next single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-The-Logical-Song\/master\/4286\" title=\"Ramp (The Logical Song)\" target=\"_blank\">Ramp (The Logical Song)<\/a> that they saw chart-success again. <\/p>\n<p>Ramp peaked at no 2 in the UK where it sold Gold with over 400.000 copies. The track was featured on the best of-album, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Push-The-Beat-For-This-Jam-The-Singles-94-02\/release\/61918\" title=\"Push The Beat For This Jam (The Singles 94-02)\" target=\"_blank\">Push The Beat For This Jam (The Singles 94-02)<\/a> which was 19 of the best tracks so far and included 3 new tracks. Ramp was a remake of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Supertramp\" title=\"Supertramp\" target=\"_blank\">Supertramp<\/a>&#8217;s 1979 track <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Supertramp-The-Logical-Song\/master\/25484\" title=\"The Logical Song\" target=\"_blank\">The Logical Song<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In 2002, Alex Coon quit the band to pursue his DJ career and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jay_Frog\" title=\"Jay Frog\" target=\"_blank\">Jay Frog<\/a> took his place.<br \/>\nThe first track released with Jay Frog in the band was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Nessaja\/master\/13028\" title=\"Nessaja\" target=\"_blank\">Nessaja<\/a>. The track was influented by a track from German <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Peter+Maffay\" title=\"Peter Maffay\" target=\"_blank\">Peter Maffay<\/a> called <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Peter-Maffay-Tabaluga-Oder-Die-Reise-Zur-Vernunft\/master\/55261\" title=\"Tabaluga\" target=\"_blank\">Tabaluga<\/a>. The track did really well and peaked at no 1 in the German chart and sold gold with over 250.000 units and did really well in most european countries.<\/p>\n<p>The followup, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Weekend\/master\/13497\" title=\"Weekend\" target=\"_blank\">Weekend<\/a> uses the main sample from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Push\" title=\"Push\" target=\"_blank\">Push<\/a> \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Push-Strange-World\/master\/54185\" title=\"Strange World\" target=\"_blank\">Strange World<\/a>. There&#8217;s also a reference to The KLF with the line \u201dRespect the man in the ice cream van\u201d The track did really well chart-wise and peaked at no 2 in the German chart and did top no 10 in many european countries. Worth noticing is the topless dancers in the video<\/p>\n<p>Weekend was also the first track off Scooter&#8217;s 9th studio album, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Stadium_Techno_Experience\" title=\"The Stadium Techno Experience\" target=\"_blank\">The Stadium Techno Experience<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Second single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-The-Night\/master\/13388\" title=\"The Night\" target=\"_blank\">The Night<\/a> was the last who featured a high pitched voice sung by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Nikk\" title=\"Nikk\" target=\"_blank\">Nikk<\/a> (married to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Rick+J.+Jordan\" title=\"Rick J. Jordan\" target=\"_blank\">Rick J. Jordan<\/a>). The track did fairly well and got a top 10 spot in the german chart.<\/p>\n<p>The third single, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-vs-Marc-Acardipane-Dick-Rules-Maria-I-Like-It-Loud\/master\/13245\" title=\"Maria (I Like It Loud)\" target=\"_blank\">Maria (I Like It Loud)<\/a> was a remake from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Marc+Acardipane\" title=\"Marc Acardipane\" target=\"_blank\">Marc Acardipane<\/a>&#8217;s track I Like It Loud and even uses the same MC (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/artist\/Dick+Rules\" title=\"Dick Rules\" target=\"_blank\">Dick Rules<\/a>). <\/p>\n<p>A fun fact about track is that during the shoot of the music video, H.P. Met his future wife.<\/p>\n<p>The track did really well and peaked at no 1 in both Austria and Hungary and also reached no 4 in Germany<\/p>\n<p>It was around this time I stoped listening to Scooter, especially after the single <a href=\"http:\/\/www.discogs.com\/Scooter-Shake-That\/master\/25323\" title=\"Shake That\" target=\"_blank\">Shake That<\/a> which was more disco-ish. If I hadn&#8217;t stoped listening at this time, I surely had stoped later. <\/p>\n<p>After 2006 when Jay Frog left the band and Michael Simon joined they were heavily influented by Jumpstyle which I personally loathe. They did have some success after this though but they had lost me as a follower. I know many more who has said the same thing.<\/p>\n<p>But again, you win some, you loose some as the old saying goes.<\/p>\n<p>I was watching the DVD Scooter Live In Hamburg the other day and I realise that (except for the Jumpstyle-parts) that I really miss the good old Scooter. I only wish I&#8217;d have seen them live.
